a child knows nothing
about the consequences
of the many roads
she will walk in life
until the end
when the last road is chosen
and for better or worse
she arrives at her destination
old, with no more roads left to walk
she then ponders
those fearlessly taken
the ones passed by, unexplored
the hurtful ones
paved with nails and glass
and she realizes that long ago
she lost her way
too late now
she knows, over and over
she picked the wrong roads
always in a hurry
she veered left on a whim
right on a wish
and only has herself to blame
for this damned dead end

I often wonder how we would know if we have reached our destination, sometimes it feels like it’s a dead end yet we must still go on…
Love this one Jai🤍👌

Yes, we still go on; but at some point, there are people who instinctively know that they made the wrong choices, and their lives have reached a point of no return—no second chances, no do-overs. 💙
Thanks, Destiny.

You so aptly quote a great writer, Cutoff Man. “Too late” bites many of us in the ass. 😮

Love it. I personally believe that 99% of us go through exactly this, or perhaps that’s just my own confirmation bias talking. You nailed the tail too. 🖤

I think you’re right. I’ve never known a person, whom I knew well enough to discuss such things, who didn’t have many regrets about their choices in life. We humans are a stupid bunch. 🖤

I didn’t mean to hijack Cutoff Man’s thread. As recompense to him (Stephen), you should check out one of his songs called “The Drop Off”. The song is here: https://tinyurl.com/yc4tdhuh and the lyrics are all on his blog here: https://cutoff-man.com/the-drop-off/ He is a brother from another mother… 🖤

Thank’s for the links, Rann. I’ve already visited and followed Stephen’s site, and plan on visiting more.

Ahhh, those dreadful dead ends, been there, done that got the T-shirt for it! I like what Destiny commented, somehow we must go on. I have recalculated many times and only age matured me. Now I’m just afraid to travel.

Ah, we have matching T-shirts then…lol. I agree, we must go on…can’t sit down in the middle of the road and cry ‘cause no one is going to come along and set you straight. Thanks for visiting and commenting. 🙂
