I was not born to be happy…
no bright star shone down on me
when I was dropped headfirst into the world
red-faced, kicking, screaming
and placed in my mother’s arms—
the only true home I’ve ever known
instead, a dark star witnessed my birth
stepped out of hell’s black hole
took me in its cold bony hands
and christened me “Wednesday’s Child”
damning me to a life of woe
not for me fair of face or full of grace
a clumsy witch with frizzy red hair
who mounts her broom
and beneath an alabaster moon
runs wild with the night
night understands, night knows
what beats inside my heart
what tangles and twists my soul
it doesn’t question, doesn’t judge
night is my beloved familiar
there’s a certain comfort in failure
a happiness inside misery
a pleasure in absent feeling
for a Wednesday’s Child
who has serenely accepted her fate
for…
I was not born to be happy

Saturday’s child here. A few days before All-Hallows-Eve (probably why Autumn is my favorite season). Born just before midnight. What a shitty thing to say about Wednesday’s Child.🖤

I read the poem when I was a small child…little did I know what lay ahead.
Fall is also my favorite season. Another commonality. 😊🖤

Kind of surprising neither of us is Winter I suppose 🖤 I love the way Autumn feels. There’s an almost twilight feel to it, and the winds are satisfyingly crisp and cool. Darkness abounds, yet doesn’t overwhelm until Winter eclipses.

It’s so hot and humid here in the summer that fall is always a relief. 🥵 I agree with your assessment of it, and may I add that a walk in the woods with a light mist falling and fog wrapping everything in silence is both beautiful and somewhat surreal to me. Winter is my least favorite season, probably because I hate being cold. 🥶 And then in the spring, there’s the possibility of wicked storms and tornados. Fall is “just right,” as Goldilocks would say. 🖤

Lol, finally a difference… I love cold. Makes sense though, most women I know do have an affinity for heat. Part of me wants to visit Greece, and the other part says WTF? Do you know how hot it is there??

If you factor in the humidity, it can’t be much worse than the South. Summer is a sauna here. By the way, how hot is it?
I’d like to visit Venice. Recently, my son went there on a business trip and sent me pics of the canals and gondolas (among other things). Lovely city.

Well, not as bad as I assumed. 50-95 F depending on the time of year. Not unreasonable I suppose. Venice would be nice too, though I long to visit Paris.

I would like to see Paris as well, Rome, and all those old cities. Fall would be a nice time to take a tour of Europe. 😊 🖤
